Best outdoor adventures in Florida

With signature sunny weather, miles of untouched beaches and acres of unexplored wilderness, Florida is almost synonymous with outdoor fun. Whether you’re boating in the Keys, paddling in the Panhandle or trying to zipline Orlando, there’s no limit to outdoor fun here.

It might even be a little overwhelming picking just a few activities in Florida to pack into your vacation. At Orlando Tree Trek, we narrowed it down to some of our favorites, just for you.

The beaches

Florida is known for its long and beautiful beaches—but there’s more to our shores than just lying in the sun. From Daytona Beach to Siesta Key, Clearwater to Destin, Florida’s beaches offer unbeatable beauty and tons of activity (think parasailing, jet skiing, and even horseback riding!). The Florida Keys are also a great place to take a boat ride or explore under the sea. Snorkel around sea life or explore the Gulf of Mexico. There are so many options!

Everglades National Park

The Florida Everglades are a huge part of the Floridian ecosystem and our tourism draw. Everglades National Park offers several outdoor activities for those looking to experience a small part of that. Guided tours on both water and land can take you through the park to learn about the part it plays in the ecosystem and why it must be preserved. As one of the largest national parks in the country, the Everglades is a great place to camp, boat or take a bike trail if you want a more self-guided experience.

Canoe Capital of Florida

Milton, Florida, calls itself the Canoe Capital of Florida, so you can guess what the main draw to the area is. Coldwater Creek is a paddling trail in the Panhandle with shallow waters and swift currents. The sandbars are a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the scenery. The Blackwater River and Blackwater River State Park are also near Milton and offer a wealth of water-based recreation.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park

No list about outdoor adventures in Florida would be complete without a mention of Florida’s crystal-clear natural springs, but Weeki Wachee Springs has a bit of a magical element—mermaids! Billed as a classic Florida attraction dripping in Old Florida charm, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park features mermaids who perform in the aquamarine waters. (There’s plenty of other outdoor recreation, too!)

Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park

Want a true adrenaline rush? Zipline Florida at Orlando Tree Trek! This tree to tree adventure park features four adult courses and two separate kids courses, so there’s fun for the whole family. But it’s not just about zip lining in Florida—this rope adventure park includes nearly 100 challenges along the obstacle course in addition to the adventure park ziplines, so you’ll really get a workout and an adventure. Before you start the ropes course, staff members provide you with a safety demonstration so you feel comfortable on your tree to tree adventures. And there’s nothing like the feeling of conquering the rope park! You’ll feel accomplished for the rest of your trip.

These are just a FEW of the awesome outdoor adventures the Sunshine State offers. What are your favorite outdoor adventures here?
