Best things to do in Orlando when the weather cools off

While the fall in other parts of the country can bring to mind colorful leaves, cozy sweaters and a slight chill in the air, we Floridians are usually still thinking about sunshine, swimsuits and the beach. Even so, residents of Orlando do get to experience a few glorious fall-like days every year.

The best part? As the temperatures begin to cool down, the fun really heats up! Orlando is home to some of the best adventures in Florida—from your favorite treetop trek to world-renowned theme parks. We love these activities year-round, but some are better enjoyed outside the scorcher of summer. To help you make the most of these perfect days, we put together a list of the best things to do in Orlando as the weather cools off.

Visit a U-Pick farm

When the Florida heat is on the way out, it’s the perfect time to get outside and pick your favorite seasonal fruits, veggies and flowers at a local U-Pick farm. These farms are usually family-owned and often host fall festival events with pumpkin patches come September!

Have a picnic

Enjoy Orlando’s scenery with a nice outdoor picnic! Try locations like Wekiwa Springs, Lake Eola Park or even the beach to get the backdrop of your dreams—and don’t forget your favorite meal, of course. Always make sure that food and beverages are allowed at whatever venue you choose!

Enjoy the theme parks

Waiting in line for your favorite ride isn’t so bad when the weather cools down! Exploring one of Orlando’s iconic theme parks like Universal Orlando or Walt Disney World can be daunting with the sun beating down on you, especially with so much walking involved. As temperatures begin to drop, it’s a great time to plan a trip to the parks without worrying so much about the Florida heat.

Take a scenic bike ride

Orlando has plenty of beautiful bike trails, including the West Orange Trail with 22 miles of urban and rural views. This particular trail is only 15 minutes from downtown Orlando, the perfect place to find a snack to refuel after your journey. And if you don’t own a bike, no worries—plenty of places offer rentals!

Visit a rope adventure park

Cool weather means it’s the perfect time to visit Orlando Tree Trek, Orlando’s favorite place for tree to tree adventures. Our rope park offers an obstacle course for you to conquer, with four increasingly challenging courses for adults and two separate courses for kids. We also have some of the best adventure park ziplines in Florida, including our giant 425’ zip line. You will definitely feel the breeze while soaring through the trees at Orlando Tree Trek!
