Is a ropes course a good workout?
Did the new year put working out at the top of your to-do list, but now you’re getting bored of doing the same few workouts over and over again? Working out doesn’t have to be saved for the gym, especially when we have gorgeous weather in Florida!
If you’re looking to spice up your workout routine and have a good time, a rope adventure park could be for you! Whether you usually focus on cardio endurance or building muscle, taking on an aerial obstacle course can help you meet your goals in a challenging but super fun way.
Need more convincing? Here are five reasons a ropes course is a great workout.
You can build upper body strength.
Are you all about the arms? If so, a ropes course has you covered. Courses require a good deal of upper body strength, whether you’re climbing walls or grabbing onto ropes. You might even build some muscles you didn’t know you had, but you’ll have fun doing it.
You can improve balance and flexibility.
Feeling wobbly can be intimidating, but there’s no better way to improve your balance than when you’re safely connected to a harness. When you’re balanced, you’re engaging core and back muscles that keep you stable. Walking tightropes, balancing on boards or stretching for the next rope all work to build your balance and flexibility just like yoga. And you can use that off and on the ground!
You can build endurance.
Tree to tree adventures provide a great cardiovascular workout. It can take up to three hours to complete an adult-level course, and you’ll probably work up a sweat. Conquering all four of our courses means you’ll build endurance as you go—and you’ll only build more if you make a ropes course part of your normal workout routine.
You’ll test your coordination.
A ropes course uses more than just your strong muscles. You also have to think about the next smart step throughout the obstacle course. Courses are up to 50 feet in the air and include everything from walking on swinging logs to crawling through hoops in the air. This takes understanding where obstacles are placed and how you’re going to move your body to get there.
You can boost your mental health.
Participating in a ropes course works many muscles and pushes your body to new heights. But like with most workouts, you’ll probably also see mental benefits. The challenge and thrill of completing a ropes course will bring you a sense of personal accomplishment and improve your self-esteem. It will also show you how you respond in difficult situations, improving your ability to handle whatever comes your way.
